As the Learning & Development Co-Ordinator, I am responsible for running, improving, and expanding LAPGs training offerings.
What do you do?
Any and everything training! If you’ve taken our Legal Aid Supervision Course, Introduction to Civil Legal Aid Course, or any session of the Certificate in Practice Management Course in the last year you’ve probably read an email or two from me; I also assisted on the 2022 Management & Leadership Programme. Since we moved our courses online quite unexpectedly in 2020, there was a lot of work to be done to create a more permanent structure and procedure for our continued online offering in 2022. This resulted in a new learning platform, Thinkific, where we now host various courses including the Introduction to Civil Legal Aid. I also work closely with our trainers to improve our courses and ensure we are providing participants with everything they need to be successful. I have even began to make some training content of my own with hopes that this will increase my understanding of how to better provide online training. LAPG are always looking to create more courses, so I am constantly trying to understand where the training gaps are in the legal aid sector and how those can be filled.
