After years of campaigning and litigation the government now seems ready to introduce much-needed changes to the regulations limiting access to legal aid for victims of domestic abuse. The Guardian has trailed MOJ plans to remove the time limit and expand the types of acceptable evidence of abuse, which would increase access to legal aid to thousands of potential clients.
See the full Guardian article here setting out the proposed changes, which have come about following a concerted effort from groups such as Rights of Women and LAPG.
Once we know the full detail of the changes we’ll publish them here and circulate a detailed briefing to members.
