Getting to know the LAPG Team – Chris ‘Nick Fury’ Minnoch

Job Description?

C.E.O of L.A.P.G, the successor to S.H.I.E.L.D (the Society of Helpful, Independent, Ethical Legal Dogooders).

What do you do?

I provide an environment in which my team can use their various superpowers and talents to counter the forces of HYDRA (the department within the MOJ which implements the ‘Hope Your Dispute Resolves Anyway’ policy).

What is the best bit of the job?

Building relationships with LAPG’s field agents (sometimes called Providers), and training them to provide effective support to their local communities. I also enjoy seeing my team develop and knowing that despite some slight narrative and continuity flaws, our movies are still grossing well at the box office, giving us the resources to continually enhance the services we provide to our field operatives.

What is the worst bit of the job?

Knowing that despite our efforts, over decades and with extraordinary dedication and application, many of our field operatives have taken the (all too often sensible) decision to either stop being superheroes, or to apply their powers to a different group of citizens. Every time one withdraws from service, we know that’s another community left without the support they need and deserve. We hope that over the next few years we can convince The Living Tribunal that the work of our operatives is a vital public service and requires a level of investment commensurate with both the importance of the work and the skill, expertise and commitment of those operatives.

Quick fire questions…

Homeworking or office?

I know agents such as Thomas ‘Iron Man’ Rigard Asquith and Andrea ‘Jean Grey’ Shumaker use homeworking effectively to develop gadgets and weapons in their secret laboratories. But being in the office together is a significant factor in developing a Marvellous team. So, both are important.

Coffee or kombucha?

Komwhatcha? Did I just get teleported into a part of the multiverse where we need to invent silly names for drinks to disguise the fact that they have fewer health benefits than a glass of water?

Posh chocolate or Cadbury’s Dairy Milk?

Sugar makes me feel ill. Can I have a cheese scone please?

Last music or comedy gig attended?

Carol’s leaving do.

Favourite lawyer (can be fictional or real)?

By lawyer I am sure you really mean field operative. Given my role supporting all field operatives I don’t think it is sensible to try to pick a favourite. My kids however, that’s easy…

TV programme series you have most recommended to friends?

M*A*S*H – nothing else before or since has managed to be as equally funny, pointed and humane.

Favourite person/organisation you follow on Twitter or any other social media platform?

The LAA – their social media content is banging. If this doesn’t make the edit, I would probably say Jess Phillips and James O’Brien. Both the perfect combination of controlled anger and clarity of thought and neither suffer fools. When I grow up I want to be more like them.
